The field of novel topological electronic phases emerged approximately a decade ago becoming one of the most rapidly evolving areas of scientific research. This spectacular development was triggered by several theoretical works predicting that insulating phases that are topologically distinct from normal insulators may exist in materials. Such intrinsic realizations of topological insulators were found among known materials almost immediately after the initial theoretical predictions. Since then, the field was extending towards revealing new materials belonging to this family, understanding their physical properties resulting from the topologically non-trivial electronic structure, and also searching for entirely different topological electronic phases. Most recent examples of such novel states of matter include a variety of gapless phases such as Dirac, Weyl and line-node semimetals.

This conference continues the highly successful series that started in Barcelona in 2013, followed by Berlin, San Sebastián and, finally, Würzburg in 2016.
